About the Group
Who are we?
Color Irondequoit Green (CIG) is an organization of residents from the town of Irondequoit who are working towards a sustainable future. Our burgeoning group of volunteers hopes to partner with other community groups and with our town board and schools to advance climate solutions at the individual, family, neighborhood, municipal, state and federal levels.
We are respectful, inclusive, nonpartisan, solutions-focused, transparent, collaborative, scientifically-informed, and committed to social, racial, environmental, and intergenerational justice.
Affiliations
Color Irondequoit Green is one team belonging to a coalition of others throughout the Monroe County area organized under the umbrella of Color Your Community Green, an initiative of the Climate Solutions Accelerator program.
We work together to have the best possible impact for a sustainable future. We have many resources and tools to help us take tangible actions towards a more sustainable community.
Our Goals
- educate ourselves as to how we can reduce our carbon footprints – at individual, family, neighborhood, municipal, state, and federal levels
- organize local volunteers to reach more citizens and have a larger impact addressing climate campaigns
- support and empower Irondequoit residents and policy makers to address climate change.
- inform fellow residents about all the incredible ways our town is “Going Green.”
